About
A lot of buses operating under the Flix banner are non-branded and not of the recognizable green color. And in these non-branded buses, the seat numbering system typically goes from 1 to 56. But Flix assigns numbers like 3A, 7D etc. This creates confusion for both drivers and passengers, leading to unnecessary dwell time at stops.
To make it more confusing, rows 1 to 12 are numbered just like that. There&pos;s no row 13. So after row 12, the next Flix row is 14, and then 20. BUT, 20 is only on the driver side. The passenger side is 15!
Some fleets attach stickers on the overhead bin to mitigate this issue. Some don&pos;t. And at other times, those stickers peel off or simply go missing.
This tool addresses the problem by converting your Flix assigned seat to the bus manufacturer numbering system. All the row quirks are automatically handled. The underlying principle is that when a system has an invariant, the physical seat in this case, any language used to describe it can be translated into one another. For example:
- Seat 20A is same as 55.
- Seat 1A is same as 3.
- Seat 15C is same as 54.
By default, the most common manufacturer seat numbering system used by standard single-deck coach buses like Prevost or MCI is taken into account for computations. However, the user has the choice to go into Advanced mode, answer a few questions to make the algorithm understand and map different manufacturer seat numbering systems.
Bus Seat Mapper was built at The Protocol Layer.
